Police recover stolen patrol rifle, give update on investigation RUTLAND, Vt. (NEWS10) -- Vermont State Police have announced they recovered a stolen patrol rifle that was taken Tuesday. Vermont State Police Police say a cop car was stolen outside of a Rutland City home between 2 and 4:40 a.m. on Tuesday. The cruiser was located elsewhere in the city, but a patrol rifle was missing from the car.Around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Vermont State Police found Gabriel walking on Cherry Street in Burlington. Police say he ignored commands directing him to surrender and was subdued by troopers. At the time, the patrol rifle wasn't accounted for. Smoke from scrap metal recycling center fire near Warrenton can be seen for miles JONESBURG, Mo. -- Smoke from a scrap metal recycling center fire can be seen for miles. The center is located along I-70 around the 185-mile marker. Bommarito Automotive SkyFOX Helicopter captured images of firefighters working to put out the fire.Drivers can see the smoke rising high into the air. The fire does not seem to be slowing traffic in the area.It is not clear what started the fire. The recycling center owners say that there are no injuries associated with this fire. Burglars smash through wall to get into pharmacy A group of thieves smashed a glass door and broke through a wall to burglarize a pharmacy in Van Nuys early Friday morning.At about 12:30 a.m., a group of two or three people wearing masks broke the glass door of a tax services company at 13745 Victory Blvd., then used a sledgehammer to smash through a wall and get into the neighboring pharmacy, a witness told the Los Angeles Police Department, as reported by stringer service OnScene.TV.Footage from the scene shows drywall and boxes strewn about the entry point for the bandits.The burglars took merchandise from the pharmacy, though the exact amount has yet to be determined, and also rifled through office cabinets before fleeing in a red sedan.No further information was available.
